Description
BIM is an emerging process of civil engineering and architecture supported by a variety of tools, technologies and contracts that involve the creation and management of digital representations of the physical and functional properties of spaces. BIM is used by individuals, businesses and government agencies who plan, design, construct, operate and maintain buildings and various physical infrastructures such as water, waste, electricity, gas, communications services, roads, railroads, bridges, ports and tunnels.
BIM helps to coordinate, plan, design and build with precise and accurate data with advanced digital modeling, visualization and simulation without wasting resources, thus enabling energy efficiency potential. It contributes to reducing project costs and ensuring feasibility. It also helps standardize the dataflow throughout the project, whether at the office or in the field. An internal skills gap analysis conducted in the participating institutions and countries during the development of the project revealed a mismatch between the BIM and energy efficiency competencies required and the BIM competencies offered in the analyzed post graduate or professional development programs of the partners.
In this context, the GREENBIM project is designed with the aim of developing a market-oriented post graduate programme in BIM and Energy Efficiency Buildings which aimed at professionals and architecture/civil engineering students. In this way, the project will contribute to the region’s ability to facilitate skilled human capital that can successfully master the next generation green and digital approach to architecture and civil engineering.
