FFEU Project Online Seminar “Antigone, Just Governance in the EU, the Value of Dialogical Reason or Phronesis”

The online seminar entitled “Antigone, Just Governance in the EU, the Value of Dialogical Reason or Phronesis” will be organized on 29th of December 2022, Thursday at 13:00 in scope of the “Fictions for the Future of the European Union: Confronting Fears and Building Values by way of Literature and Art (FFEU)” Jean Monnet Module Project coordinated by Assist. Prof. (Phd) Ahmet SÜNER and in cooperation with the Graduate School at Yasar University.

Assist. Prof. (Phd) Ahmet SÜNER from Department of English Language and Literature will be presenting a paper that builds on the premise of approaching works of literature as inspirational sources of value for the becoming of the European Union. More particularly, it shows how a seminal literary text from Ancient Greece, namely Sophocles’ Antigone, might be thought to contribute to the ideas of democracy and justice and especially to the understanding of the ways in which particular judgements related to government must be made and evaluated.

The seminar will be held in English.

The event is open to everyone interested, you can register through the link below:

The FFEU Jean Monnet module attempts to bridge the gap between European Studies on the one hand, and studies in literature and the arts on the other. In aiming at the establishment of common values through social dialogue around artistic fictions among European citizens, it attempts to make its contribution firstly at the university level where future policy makers, civil servants and civil-society representatives of the European Union are currently receiving their education.
