Description

This project aims to disseminate findings and exchange knowledge among stakeholders (farmers, NGO, Cooperatives, food business organization) of food chains in Turkey. This research has been carried out under recent Newton Fund awarded project titled – Developing capacity and research network on circular and Industry 4.0 driven sustainable solutions for reducing food waste in supply chains in Turkey’ funded by British council which was completed in between 2020-2021. In this application, it is aimed to engage the stakeholders on circular and digital solutions for reducing food waste in supply chains. The focus is to bring industry-academia on the same platform for reducing food waste through digital technologies and circular solutions in the food supply chain. Specifically, the project highlights are listed as below;
• Developing knowledge exchange in the area of circular economy (CE) and digital technologies towards reducing food waste.
• Increasing knowledge exchange for new researchers in both Turkey and the UK.
• Increasing sustainable pathway to impact agriculture system in Turkey with development and implementation of digital and circular solutions.
• Transforming towards digital and circular economy to help with farmers and producers in raising their income and production in Turkey.
• Developing knowledge exchange on digitalization and circular solutions provide support to solve current problems in the food supply chain through reductions in CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions, reduced food waste and increased affordability by reducing cost leading to better and fairer distribution of food among the needy customers in Turkey.
• Create resilient food supply chains between UK and Turkey in an after Brexit era.
