Title | The Impact of LLL Strategies on Professional Higher Education |
Contact Number | LLP TRA KA1 TRA-KEYA1-SC/2009/R1/BE |
Description |
Providing appropriate skills for the European work force is the challenge of the coming decade. The LifeLong Learning (LLL) strategy is more then ever a focus for businesses, learners and educational institutions to achieve that goal. This project will identify challenges and implications of LLL incorporation into European HEI’s who are actively planning to play a role in their national LLL strategy. Special focus lies with the degree of flexibility in which HEI’s can cope with the recognition of prior learning and how the management and services of the institutions are adapted to the new demands from LLL. The consortium consists of individual HEI’s in different European countries and related organizations representing those HEI’s at a national level. The approach focuses on existing policies in several European countries and the impacts they have on the stakeholders (businesses, business training providers, and the LifeLong Learners). The expectations of the various stakeholders are surveyed. Indicators for a successful implementation of LLL into HEI’s are thus defined and applied in the development of a self-assessment tool for HEI’s. The assessment will identify good practices, provide a bench-marking opportunity for the participating HEI’s and signal missing links between the European and national policies, and the current capacity of the HEI’s to achieve the goals mentioned therein. A panel of experts will review the assessment. They will present a report with policy recommendations regarding the European LLL programme. This is complemented by the development of dissemination activities (Train-the-Trainer sessions and a publication on the self-assessment instrument and gathered good practice. |
