Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILC)

The EILC course that is planned to be organized by Yasar University in Izmir at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters of 2011-12 academic years as 6 courses in total, will primarily increase the quality of mobility within Erasmus by also contributing to increase the volume of student mobility. Each course will host 15 students and in total 90 students will participate to EILC.  The course will contribute to eliminate the language barrier for Erasmus students aiming in return to increase the interest and number incoming students to Turkey. The course not only with its language instruction but also with its cultural and social dimension aims to make the Turkish universities more attractive which will lead to better awareness about Turkey and Turkish culture and also new cooperation possibilities. Since the course will also serve for the other 7 universities in the region namely Ege University, Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir Economy University, İzmir University of Higher Technology, Izmir University, Gediz University, Celal Bayar University (Manisa), the course will lead new opportunities for cooperation via the already existing Erasmus network with participant universities. The new methods of language teaching in line with the European Language Framework will be used supported by the language teaching methods of communicative approach, direct method and audio-lingual method. The new teaching materials (CDs, videos, books, handouts and flash cards etc) will be used to increase the quality of teaching by targeting to teach Turkish successfully to all the members of the Erasmus student group  coming from different academic and cultural backgrounds.
