Title European Perspectives on Cultural Codes in Art-EPOCCA (2013)
Description

The aim of this course will be creating awareness of the participating students of the ways of artistic expression of cultural codes. The course will encourage students utilizing different disciplines of art such as graphic design, camera (photograph and/or video) and music.

The outline of the course is planned as below:

Theory (briefing) (Indoors/Outdoors): Theory classes are planned to be carried out both indoors (as lectures) or on fields such as historical places or in public spaces. Some of the classes will be materialized outdoors on field which also give them the possibility of observation.

Research phase (observing or literary research): The students (in groups of 4-5 accompanied by a student from Yaşar University) will be taken through pre-established routes to certain places for observation. The library of Yaşar University will also be available for literary research.

Conceptualization of the research outcomes: In this phase, students are expected to rationalize the outcomes of their researches. In this phase they will also be guided by the tutors.

Production phase: Each participant will be asked (either individually or in a group) to produce an art work.

This art work can be based on traditional methods such as printing (for instance etching, woodcut etc.) or documentary video. Or the final product(s) can be multimedia, video art, installation or conceptual music etc.
