Further detailed information about the project are available below

Project 1: EU-MIDDLE EAST NETWORK IN ACTION (EUMENIA) / Jean Monnet Network Project
Project Team at Yaşar University: Prof. Dr. Aylin GÜNEY, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre İŞERİ, Dr. Lecturer Gökay ÖZERİM
Total Project Budget: 300.000 Euros
Partners: University of Amsterdam – the Netherlands (coordinator); Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) – Italy; University of Peloponnese – Greece; Roskilde University – Denmark; Yasar University – Turkey; Birzeit University – Palestine; American University of Beirut – Lebanon; University of Jordan – Jordan
Short Summary of the Project: The rationale of this interdisciplinary partnership is to encourage exchange of academic best-practices, bridge the gap between policy-making and academic world and create a thematic transnational research group. EU-Middle East relations constitute a cornerstone of the EU’s external relations and engagement with its neighbourhood. How has the EU been constructed in the Middle East debate and how has the Middle East been constructed in the European debate? These interlinked fundamental questions will guide the work of the network as they have a direct impact on how the EU and the Middle East are constructed, taught and understood by the European and Middle Eastern societies, students, academics and policy makers.

Project 2: GENDER POLITICS AND EU IN THE TIME OF CRISIS / Jean Monnet Module Project
Project Team at Yaşar University: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem İnce YENİLMEZ (module coordinator), Prof. Dr. Durmuş ÖZDEMİR, Dr. Lecturer Mustafa Gürol DURAK, Dr. Lecturer Gökay ÖZERİM, Dr. Lecturer Onur Burak ÇELİK
Total Project Budget: 37.270,80 Euros
Short Summary of the Project: The number of educational programs on gender politics during the period of European crisis is very few. A course on this would encompass socio-economic parameters involved in gender balancing strategies as well as consequence in the effective comprehension of gender equality processes that play out in the labor market. The aim of this module is to provide a scheme of work especially to undergraduate and graduate students, researchers as well as the economists and sociologists, NGO representatives and other professional agencies who are conducting their studies on any area of gender politics, especially the subjects of gender equality and balancing.
