Seminar Invitation: Political Economy of the Refugee Crisis in Europe: What Must Be Done?

Prof.Dr. Beverly Crawford from University of California, Berkeley will give a seminar entitled “Political Economy of the Refugee Crisis in Europe: What Must Be Done?” on 15.09.2015, Tuesday – 10:00 am at Yaşar University. The seminar is open to the participation of all interested researchers, academics and students.

This seminar is organized by the Yaşar University European Union Research Center in scope of the EUGLOBAL FP7 project activities and supported by the TUBITAK 2221 Visiting Scholar Program.

cBeverly Crawford is adjunct professor of Political Science and International and Area Studies, co-director of the European Union Center of Excellence, and associate director of Berkeley’s Institute of European Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from UC Berkeley, as well as an M.A. in international relations from Boston University, and a B.A. in German from Chapman College. Crawford has written an analysis of modern Germany’s approach to international relations, called Power and German Foreign Policy: Embedded Hegemony in Europe. he is co-editor of The Convergence of Civilizations: Constructing a Mediterranean Region and The Myth of Ethnic Conflict: Politics, Economics and Cultural Violence, and has written numerous policy papers and articles on the causes of cultural conflict in Europe, Greece, Bulgaria, and the former Yugoslavia. She has been a visiting professor at the Technical University of Dresden, The Free University of Berlin, Bocconi University, and UC Santa Cruz. Prof. Crawford is recently a visiting scholar at Yasar University.
