GREEN NIGHT Project Press Conference

GREEN NIGHT Project press conference was organized on August 23rd, 2021 at Yaşar University, Selçuk Yaşar Campus. Prof. Dr. Cemali DİNÇER, Rector of the Yaşar University, Prof. Dr. Saffet KÖSE, Rector of the Izmir Katip Celebi University , Prof. Dr. Gamze TANOĞLU, Vice Rector of the İzmir Institute of Technology , Dr. Murat Mücahit YENTÜR, Director of the İzmir Provincial Directorate of National Education, and Prof. Dr. Şenay ŞANLIER, the Director of the EBİLTEM-TTO of Ege University have attended the event.

During the opening speech, Yaşar University Rector Prof. Dr. Cemali DİNÇER said that “Our University, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has become a very active institution in the field of European studies and EU funded projects since its establishment. In addition to the international research and cooperation dimension, the local research ecosystem is strengthening, and cooperation opportunities between local stakeholders have increased in recent years. GREEN NIGHT project takes these collaborations to a higher level and brings together the 4 important Universities of Izmir and the Izmir Provincial Directorate of National Education. We are proud to be part of this project that brings 5 important institutions of İzmir”.

GREEN NIGHT project coordinator and EU Research Center Director Assoc. Prof. Gökay ÖZERİM underlined that they have identified “Energy, Food, Waste and Transportation” as the four main themes of the project in reference to the “Green Deal” objectives of the European Commission. The European Researchers’ Night events will highlight how researchers and their research contribute to society and support raising environmental awareness, especially within the framework of these four main themes.

This year, the events will take place on Friday, 24th September 2021. The GREEN NIGHT European Researcher’s Night activities in Izmir will take place at Yaşar University, Ege University, Izmir Institute of Technology, and Izmir Katip Çelebi University campuses on September 24th, both face-to-face and online events.
