CALIPER Project Kick-off Meeting

The kick-off meeting of The CALIPER project: Linking research and innovation for gender equality” is held in Thessaloniki, Greece on 14th and 15th January 2020.

The project consortium consists of 15 organizations from 8 different countries came together to meet for the first time and discuss the upcoming activities and tasks. The meeting is hosted by the coordinating organization ViLabs OE (Greece), and Yaşar University is represented by the EU Center Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökay ÖZERİM at the meeting.

The CALIPER project is funded under the “Horizon 2020 Science with and for Society” program and aims to support research institutions focused on STEM disciplines in designing and implementing their Gender Equality Plans, which should be focused on increasing the share of women in academic positions, ensuring gender balance in decision making, achieving a better gender balance on study programs, etc.

For the achievement of this objective, the project foresees the following stages:

  • Conducting an initial external assessment of each academic partner organisation to identify gender bias at an institutional level.
  • Designing and implementing innovative strategies to address gender bias. These strategies may include family-friendly policies, gender planning, and budgeting, training programs to improve the recruitment of women in science, the inclusion of the gender dimension in research, etc.).
  • Developing a monitoring methodology by defining specific targets and indicators at an organisational level.
