Yaşar University European Union Research Center functions to stimulate and strengthen the involvement of Yaşar University in the EU Education and Research Programmes, and monitors the developments in this field. The Center supports all faculties, departments, and vocational school programmes of Yaşar University by functioning as the consulting body for Yaşar academics and students while developing EU projects with local and international stakeholders.
The Center aims to develop and participate in EU projects under different EU grants, organize seminars, trainings and certificate programmes on issues related to EU, support the mobility of students and academics for exchange of knowledge with various EU universities, research centers, institutions and NGOs. It also takes part in joint projects with different European networks and consortia, establishes international partnerships and develops strong links with these stakeholders.
Since 2005, Yasar University has participated in around 100 EU funded education and research projects as coordinator or partner institution. The university takes part in several Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships in the fields of school education, vocational education and youth. It was the recipient of Horizon 2020 Programme European Researchers’ Night Project for 2016 and 2017, a partner in two FP7 projects on energy efficiency and a Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange project on optimization techniques in architecture. In addition, in 2016 and 2019 two researchers at Faculty of Engineering were granted with Marie Curie Individual Fellowships.
Yasar University is fostering academic studies on EU in the region by actively using EU funding programmes. The university has been awarded with a Jean Monnet Chair, five Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Modules in the fields of migration, project management, gender policies, European cultural identity, and media and is involved in an Erasmus+Jean Monnet Network project.
Yasar University is an active organization in youth work, as well. Youth workers in European Union Research Center carry out youth worker training projects and encourage the participation of Yaşar University students in youth exchanges and youth worker trainings. The University is also an accredited European Voluntary Service organization and implements EVS projects within the framework of Erasmus+ programme on a regular basis as a sending and coordinating institution.
