WHAT IS YOUTH PROGRAMME?
YOUTH is the EU Programme for young people aged 13-30. It aims to inspire a sense of active citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and to involve them in shaping the Union's future.
YOUTH is a programme for all! It promotes mobility within and beyond the EU borders, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue, and encourages the inclusion of all young people, regardless of their educational, social and cultural background.
By YOUTH programme,
You may prepare short term international exchange projects and seminars with your friends
You may participate young people's projects from European countries
You may create a project with your friends to solve or to draw attention for a local problem
You may work as a volunteer in a European country between 2-12 months (click here).
EUROPEAN VOLUNTARY SERVICE
If you are already thinking about EVS, firstly you should know some important things about EVS, what it can offer for you and what you can gain from it.The aim of this section is to inform and prepare you for the EVS. Do not miss any information and just discover what the EVS is.
What isthe EVS ? The European Voluntary Service enables young people to carry out voluntary service up to 12 months in a European country other than their country of residence. It fosters solidarity among young people and is a true ‘learning service’.
Objectives of EVS The aim of the European Voluntary Service (EVS) is to develop solidarity, promote active citizenship and mutual understanding among young people.
Benefits of EVS By participating in voluntary activities, young volunteers can develop new skills and, therefore, improve their personal, educational and professional capabilities.
Volunteers can benefit from specific training throughout the activity and agree on their expected learning outcomes, processes and methods in advance.
What activities of EVS can be? Volunteers can participate in variety of activities:
ecology,
art and culture,
activities with children,
young and elderly persons,
culture and historic heritage,
sport and other activities to the benefit of the society and so on.
Who can participate? EVS volunteer can become anyone aged between 18 and 30 years. The volunteer has to be well prepared for the living and project implementation in other country.
What qualification is needed? The selection of volunteers should not be made according to the skills of the volunteers. EVS is open to everybody. Still, in justified cases a certain sensitivity or ability is sometimes mentioned as being a plus for specific tasks.
What does it cost? It is absolutely for free! Sending organization is getting money for the preparation of the volunteer and for the reimbursement of volunteer travel costs to the host country.Hosting organization is getting some amount money for the accommodation of the volunteer, language courses, support, insurance and food. The volunteer is getting the “pocket money”. The visa and vaccination costs are also reimbursed. If volunteer has special needs, some additional costs can also be reimbursed.
How to become a volunteer of EVS? To become a volunteer firstly it is needed to find a sending organisation in home country. This sending organisation will help to find the project, prepare for the service abroad; will give all the needed information. Yaşar Üniversitesi is a sending organization for EVS.
